William Pound is son of Bill Pound who formed
Steamchicken with Ted Crum and Andrew Sharpe in 1992. His folk
background started when he was quite young when when he was asked to
joined Chinewrde Morris Dancers as the drummer at the age of 10. His
first gig with them was at the Spa Centre in Leamington Spa at the 25th
Peeping Tom Anniversary Ceilidh.
| In 2001 Will joined Mallemarokers (now resting) a 12
piece big band which came about from the Chinewrde band that played at
Sidmouth Folk festival 2001. That was a big experience for Will as a
upcoming musician.
In 2003 Will joined Steamchicken along with Matt Crum (Soprano Sax) and
Mandy Sutton (Tenor Sax). He plays harmonica, percussion and piano. |
 |
Will has finished his BTEC National Diploma in Music Practice at
Warwickshire College and is sampling the delights of Geordie land aka
Newcastle doing the folk degree at the Sage an international music
centre for folk, jazz, classical and all sorts of other types of music.
Will has been playing the harmonica (his main instrument) for about he
thinks 8 years with vague memories of a certain Mr Crum giving him his
first harmonica. Bill Pound can be blamed for the boogie-woogie and
blues style Will has developed on Piano and Keyboards and less said
about drums the better.
Will has played and guested with a few bands now which include:
Steamchicken
Mallemarokers
Peeping Tom
Living the life of Riley (college band)
Dananooz
Simon Care Trio (Gordon Potts conned him into it)
Will plays or dances with the following dance teams
Chinewrde Morris
Twisted Steel Rapper
Coventry Morris and Sword.
Will is a founder member of The Quarter Pounders which consists of
Will, Joe Crum, Dan Bones of Dananooz, Laurel McIntosh of "Four in
a bar" and Matt Crum of Steamchicken.
