(Tenor Sax)
"It's good to hear a woman play the Saxophone
with balls!"
|
Started on the PTA and wedding circuit on C melody sax with
Warwickshire Band Fellow Strugglers.
She was part of the 15 piece Chinewrde band that wowed Sidmouth in 2002
and that led to an invite to join the five piece horn section of the
mammoth Mallemarokers band.
Gigs with at Warwick, Haddenham, Bromyard and culminating in the Friday
LNE at Sidmouth 04 with both Gordon and Nick calling.
When Mallemarokers wound up she joined Steamchicken in 2004 and has
been part of the successful band that is so busy on the circuit.
Influenced/inspired by Jean Frechette, Stanley Turrentine, Frank Cully,
Coleman Hawkins and teh entire horn section of Jools Holland's Big
Band; favourite gig this year Charleston Chasers with Zoltan Sagi
sitting in.
Mandy plays her favourite sax - a Yanigasawa
901 and especially likes it 'cos it's black and shiny. The Yamaha
602 is her outdoor instrument - MIR in Halesowen look after them (ie straighten
them out after accidents entirely unrelated to her alcohol
consumption....)
New in 2007 - watch out for the appearance of a new baby
(soprano sax that is).
